4th of july cocktail hack

For many of us, we are heading into a long weekend with cook outs and hopefully, time spent with family–from a safely masked distance. As we prepare for food, fireworks, and (possibly) friends–here’s a quick cocktail hack to help save time and keep you focused on the quality time amongst your loved ones. (Or, a quick cocktail to sip as you indulge in some weekend reads.)

Ingredients

– Individual bottle of your favorite white wine
–I tried Riesling and Moscato and found that I enjoyed the Moscato a bit more
– Simple syrup
–1/2 c sugar
–1/2 c water
– Club soda
– Ice
– Sugar for the rim of the glass
– Strawberries
– Blueberries
– Mint for garnish

Directions

  1. Combine 1/2 c sugar and 1/2 c water in a microwave safe pitcher and microwave for approx. 5 minutes. Let cool.
  2. Pour additional sugar in a flat dish.
  3. Wet the rim of the wine glass using a paper towel.
  4. Dip the wine glass in the sugar and twist the glass in the sugar to coat the rim.
  5. Add ice and pour individual wine bottle into glass.
  6. Add a splash of club soda.
  7. Pour in simple syrup, to taste.
  8. Slice a strawberry and add to glass.
  9. Drop in a few blue berries and a sprig of mint for garnish.

Enjoy!
