apple, orange, cranberry sauce

If you’re like me, you’re not a big fan of the cranberry sauce that magically retains the shape of the can it comes out of. After avoiding this side dish at every pertinent holiday, several years ago, I discovered a Williams-Sonoma recipe for apple, orange, cranberry sauce and my family and I have never looked back. While I’ve altered it a bit from the original, trust me when I say it’s every bit as delicious as the first year I made it. I am very thankful for this flavorful cranberry medley and think you will be too. Happy holidays!

It’s All About the Family Reunion

So, my mother–who I miss every day of my life–was born and raised in Ansted, West Virginia. (We call it ‘Dead-sted’ because there is literally nothing to do there. I’ve seen chickens wander in the middle of the street looking for entertainment–I kid you not.) My mother, however, was proud to call herself a hillbilly, loved the Grand Ol Opry and Willie Nelson, and told me she had spent her entire life camping–which is why when I was...

The Sarge Chronicles: Pet Safety

I’ve been meaning to post something about this topic for a while now. As you know, Sarge is my love. He’s spoiled rotten as evidenced by the photo in this post, but I have no one but myself to blame and I wouldn’t change a thing. Here’s the thing about Sarge, he’s part German Shepherd–which you can see from him markings. Shepherds are known for being loyal, among other things. Case in point, one...

Don’t Stay Where You’re Not Valued

It’s been a while since my last post because I have been working on a personal project that will come to fruition next week, and then I’ll be back . Truly, there are only so many hours in a day. So, while I have been diligently focusing my time elsewhere, my mind hasn’t been idle–just my blog. But there has been something weighing on my mind for a while and I just think it...

My Hypnotherapist Visit

Several people have asked how my visit to the hypnotherapist went. So I figured, why not tell the masses. I have to say, I didn’t know what to expect. The only thing I knew about being hypnotized was from cartoon lore. You know, someone swinging a pocket watch in front of a person’s face and that person becomes so mesmerized that every time someone says, ‘red,’ the individual starts barking like a dog. In...

Book Review: Fire Inside

Even if you’ve only been paying attention marginally, you would know I absolutely love Kristen Ashley books. Since she has gone mainstream with a big-time publishing house, it is clear to see the quality of her work has dramatically improved. The editing has taken her books from 1,000+ pages to just under 300 in most cases, making the stories more concise, easier to follow, and leaving readers feeling less guilty about skimming through a...
